People engaged in sanitation work, sweeping and manual scavenging face serious health risks with little protection or access to health services. This takes a tremendous toll on their lives, physical and mental health. In this short film released by Support for Advocacy and Training to Health Initiatives (SATHI), hear workers in this sector discuss their experiences and the expenses and debts they incurred in search of care, asking, “We are also humans, right?”
SATHI works to shape the narrative with regard to health care by amplifying people’s stories and raising public awareness about health rights and public health system issues. SATHI aims not only to counter harmful misinformation but also empower communities to demand transparent, accessible, and equitable health services and trustworthy health communication.
