Vaccination drive in rural Tamilnadu

Update June 4, 2021:  Village drummer mobilized 70 people to get their vaccines in Radhapuram panchayat and Thandrampattu PHC, Thiruvannamalai district. Only 24 shots were available though.  On the same day in Putu Madam, Ramnad district we mobilized 60 people who came and took the vaccines.

The only way out of the COVID pandemic is via vaccinations.  These are the first images of our efforts in villages of Tamilnadu where vaccine hesitancy is high owing to the demise of a popular actor within a day of vaccination.

AID-India along with the local PHC organized a vaccination camp that resulted in 130 people being vaccinated at Uthakesapuram, Ramnad, Tamilnadu on May 31 2021.

India has been behind in vaccinations due to the government not purchasing sufficient doses in Summer & Fall of 2020 and Jan/Feb of 2021. However, we hope that the production capacity increases and sufficient doses are now purchased so that vaccine availability increases even as we counter vaccine hesitancy.
