Do you see the transformation that is underway in the above picture? All of the blue-colored and some of the white colored roofs are 15 homes that have been/are being built by underprivileged families of the Aathiyan community, who were until recently living in tarpaulin and leaf huts in Kamaraj Nagar (Gandharva Kottai block of Pudukottai district).
The village itself is bigger with a population of 435 that includes 122 children. We first helped during covid to sustain the traditional livelihood of Drishti Bommai (making and marketing charm dolls), and then helped build brick and cement homes when 34 underprivileged families secured land pattas (titles).
