Kiran Vissa is an AID Jeevansathi and a long-time social activist striving to resolve the various issues faced by Indian farmers. Over the last 15 years, Kiran has become a key figure in the farmers’ movement in India. His tireless work has resulted in significantly improving the livelihoods of farmers in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He is part of the National Working Group of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), a coalition of 200 organizations across India. He leads a farmers’ organization Rythu Swarajya Vedika (RSV) in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and has been implementing AID’s initiatives in these states to prevent farmer suicides and address issues of rural distress.

Dr. Abhay Shukla has been working on public and community health issues in Maharashtra for the last two and a half decades. He has been involved in developing the framework for Community Based Monitoring and Planning (CBMP) of health services at a national level. In 2007, he mentored the implementation of a community-based process for monitoring public health systems in Maharashtra. This practice now extends to over a thousand villages covering 17 districts of the state. Since 2017, Dr. Shukla has also guided the development of Community Action for Nutrition (CAN), an innovative and participatory process which has demonstrated significant positive impacts towards reducing malnutrition in over 400 villages in tribal areas across Maharashtra. Dr. Shukla has a long-standing and close association with AID which has partnered with many of SATHI’s innovative community health initiatives.
