Livelihood

Half of India lives on less than Rs. 100 / day, with many earning far below minimum wage and in unsafe conditions.  Millions are in bonded labour or sold into human trafficking.

AID improves access to dignified livelihood by helping people

  • defend their natural resources that support their livelihoods
  • secure land rights and forest rights
  • raise a collective voice to demand living wages
  • leave oppressive work and find alternatives
  • apply for government employment through MGNREGA and get wages on time and in full
  • fight corruption in accessing rations, social security, health care and other government services to stem rural migration.
  • pursue local enterprises in tailoring, handicrafts, food processing and other small-scale industries.
  • market sustainably harvested foods and fair-trade products.

AID encourages all volunteers and well-wishers to support eco-friendly, fair-trade products and sustainably harvested foods and brings such products from our partners in sustainable livelihoods to market.
