AID partner Center for Sustainable Agriculture is working with the Collector of Vikarabad to provide on-call assistance to farmers through a new initiative called the Kisan Mitra helpline. AID Jeevansaathi Kiran Vissa and volunteers in Hyderabad are playing a key role in reaching out to farmers, training the village level community workers and ensuring smooth implementation.
At the launch of the helpline on April 14, Ambedkar Jayanti and also Good Friday, Kiran talked about the rights of farmers to techniques and services that would improve the security of their livelihood, sustainability of agriculture and food sovereignty for all.
Any farmer in Vikarabad District can call the helpline at 1800 120 32 44 to get access to extension support, credit, subsidies and markets. Dr Ramanjaneyulu of the Center for Sustainable Agriculture announced that the helpline would be open from 8:00 am to 8.00 pm.
