More than 2000 workers from various parts of India stranded in Andhra Pradesh have found food, shelter and hope in hard times thanks to a ground team led by Kiran Vissa and Rythu Swaraj Vedika working round the clock to ensure that they are safe during India’s 21 day lockdown to prevent spread of coronavirus. Many thousands more are in need.

Kiran Vissa reports that activists from Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, Tamil Nadu etc are calling with details workers from their states who are stranded in parts of AP. The way the helpline works is:
1. Any individuals in distress/in need of help can call 9985833725.
2. The volunteer team will log the details and will be assigned to a team.
3. The team will document and convey the details to local designated in-charge officials like district collector, MLA/MP office. 4. In cases where they need immediate food/ration/medicine… they will be connected with local individuals/NGO’s or other groups who are operating in the area. 5. Follow up with the officials on everyday basis until the official intervention takes place until the group the secured for atleast until the end of lockdown period.
