Today three cyclone relief trucks sent to Kasimedu, Perungalathur, Minjur and Guduvancherry. Relief materials distributed to 40 families and 80 Irular families in Minjur and Perungalathur. (This photo is of yesterday’s distribution at Nochikuppam)

AID INDIA CYCLONE RELIEF PLAN
Our team completed the survey of various affected areas yesterday and here is our relief plan.
Areas most affected:
1. Ponneri, Palaverkadu, Minjur, Tiruthani
2. Chennai Coastal – Kasimedu, Nadukuppam, Nochikuppam
3. ECR/OMR – Kalpakkam, Tiruporur, Semmenjeri
4. Guduvancherry, Perungalathur
Though the disaster is not as bad as the floods last year, some families have lost everything they had. Many huts have been destroyed. Houses with sheet roofs have also lost the roof.
Relief Phase 1: (upto Saturday 17th Dec)
Provide water bottle, clothes, blankets, mats, mosquito repellent, candle, matches (rice only for absolutely needed families).
(Today, we are also organizing cutting and clearing of fallen trees in interior areas.)
Relief Phase 2: (Dec to April)
Repair damaged huts and reconstruct huts into pucca houses for the poorest families.
We constructed 160 huts into pucca Eureka Homes after last year's floods and all the families were safe during the cyclone.

10 AM EST, 12/13/2016: No power or phone all day. Completed surveys in several places today. Distributed candles and a small amount of relief today. Now as power is back in many places, tomorrow relief work will progress faster. AID INDIA team please reach office by 9am. Volunteers please come to office at 10 am.
1:30 AM EST, 12/13/2016: Lots of places require water. If people can arrange water bottles and deliver it to AID INDIA office at Royapettah that will be very helpful. Mats and blankets are also very useful as always. We have some mosquito repellents and will need small bars of soap. Rice, dal, oil supply will also be needed. But most crucial now is drinking water.
