Santap Sabha – Anger Assembly of COVID Widows

Women speak out about their attempts to get COVID treatment for their husbands, the overcharging they incurred and the debts they are dealing with after their husbands died. The government of Maharashtra has recognized these women as COVID widows and has announced some relief for them. Apart from relief, they are owed money from the private hospitals who overcharged them. How will they get their money back and get out of debts they should not have in the first place?

Latest updates on COVID relief Donate to COVID Relief FundCorona Ekal Mahila Punarvasan Samiti (CEMPS) and Jan Arogya Abhiyan organized the Santap Sabha Assemblies in Nashik on 29 Sept and in Pune on 8 Oct 2021. They also conducted a survey of families of 2579 patients in 34 districts across Maharashtra. They documented the extent of overcharging found among the respondents and met with Maharashtra Health minister Rajesh Tope, MP Supriya Sule and State health officials on 12 October and demand that the state ensure audit and recovery regarding all such COVID cases in Maharashtra who have complaints of overcharging, with special focus on COVID widows.
