As winter brings 2020 to a close, AID partners are looking forward to cleaner air and a greener 2021 for everyone.
With your help our partners in Chandigarh have developed a health -based action framework for reducing air pollution which they are presenting to government partners in the National Clean Air Programme. This comprises:
hospital air monitoring and health advisories
citizen engagement and awareness
evidence-building through advance scientific tests and monitoring
Looking forward to 2021, AID will host a panel discussion on the right to breathe. Hear from researchers and activists on the cutting edge:
Meenakshi Kushwaha, environmental health researcher whose work contributed to the special report “Who Gets to Breathe Clean Air in New Delhi?” (New York Times, Dec 17)
Shweta Narayan, environmental justice activist leading the Climate & Health Air Monitoring Project in Chandigarh.
Sridhar Vedachalam, Environmental Policy Innovations Center, Washington DC
Register here to be invited to join the video conference on Jan 13.
A pervasive menace such as air pollution may appear insurmountable but your support allows AID to harness the capacities of researchers, community organizers, health professionals and conscientious government officers to cut through obstacles and clear the air, socially and environmentally.
