Assam Flood Relief Efforts

Dear Friends,
85 lives have been taken, hundreds of villages are inundated and millions are battling the rising waters in the unprecedented and devastating floods in Assam. We are working with partners on the ground in the most impacted villages to provide emergency relief.
The field teams and local volunteers of AID’s partner Shanti Sadhana Ashram, a Gandhian organization in several districts of Assam, are actively engaged in the frontlines to provide life-saving assistance.

Assam Needs You: Give to All India Relief Fund
Immediate priorities are to prevent the spread of post-flood waterborne diseases and ensure basic survival needs, and our response focuses on:
Food & Nutritional Support: Provision of dry ration kits (rice, pulses, oil, salt, baby food) and emergency drinking water packets/filters to affected communities.
Emergency Shelter & Essentials: Distribution of tarpaulins, floor mats, bedsheets, pillows, solar lanterns, and temporary shelter materials for displaced families.
Hygiene & Medical Support: Mobile health checkups, distribution of essential medicines (to combat diarrhoea, skin infections, and fever), sanitary kits, and water purification tablets.
Livelihood & Livestock Support: Basic emergency feed for surviving cattle and initial assistance kits for affected agricultural families.
The flood relief work and community recovery operations are across some of the worst-affected districts in Assam—including Sibsagar, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur and Charaideo districts.
A 13 year old boy from Bamun Pukhuri village reportedly jumped into the floods to save his puppy which he did, but the waters took him away. Even in nature’s fury selfless acts of love persist. Let us follow his example and do what we can to help.
