Village name:  Dakhin kashinagar

Villagers of Dakhin Kashinagar put their hands together to rebuild the 2 km long River embankment. Mukti supplied the foods among the villagers who all involved themselves in this great work.

On first day, 450 labors worked and on second day onwards more than 900 labors are working in this project. It was a challenge for Government to motivate villagers for this work, because wages come very late in these cases. Most of the time after 15 days or one months the payment comes from Government.

This is a very vital question that what the labor’s family will eat during this calamity time. Mukti took the initiative and lead the drive. Mukti motivated the villagers by providing snacks (breakfast) in the morning session and 2kg of rice and 200 grams Dal and 250 grams potato 100 grams of onion at the end of the day in addition to wages which they will get in time.

This program was conducted by Mukti JU group. Seven enthusiastic volunteers from Mukti JU chapter visited the site and after discussing the idea with Pradhan and local political leaders they implemented the project. Main reason for this project was to rebuild the embankment before full moon high tide.

This effort is now ensuring protection for 3-4 villages in the GP from farther high tide.

The model was very much appreciated by Government and other NGOs, and they already started helping people in the same way.

The same program is being conducted in other two villages (Kuyamuri & Purba Chintamonipur) of the same GP for another 2 KM river embankment where more than 400 labors working daily.

Mukti JU team also donated the medicines for 200 persons to a medical center which was running by Government.

In addition to above the team has donated cloths for 50 persons which were collected by Mukti Kolkata team.ravi
