AID has released $21,000 emergency relief support to BAIKUNTHAPUR TARUN SANGHA (BTS) a group we have worked with before. BTS will collaborate with MUKTI to take forward the relief work. AID volunteer Somnath Mukeherjee has visited these groups and says of the remoteness of Sunderbans "Sankar told me that they have to spend Rs. 2 lakh (including transportation etc.) just to fill up one truck with relief material in Kolkata and send it to that part of the Sundarbans. It is a huge island where Mukti works and distribution is a big challenge." Below is a note from BTS and Pictures from MUKTI:
