Acknowledgments

AID India gratefully acknowledges financial support from several chapters of Association for India's Development and Hope for Humanity.

We thank Dallas, State College, Ann Arbor, Baton Rouge and Columbus chapters of AID who sent $15,500 in 2006 to support the work.   This amount was used till mid-2008.   This was possible because it was supplemented by two grants of $2000 each from Hope for Humanity in 2007 and 2008, as well $10,000 for relief, rehabilitation and long term solutions from AID for Santakavita and Pondur mandals of Srikakulam District.

The NREGA program in collaboration with Nisarga is separately supported by AID (Rs. 1 lakh in 2008 for Santakavita and Pondur mandals of Srikakulam District).  ASER survey and Pratham reading program is independently supported by Pratham (Rs. 1 lakh in 2007 and Rs. 2.5 lakh in 2008).

Several individuals have contributed to AID chapters especially for the Srikakulam IRDP project and we are deeply grateful to them for their generosity.

We also appreciate the past support in 2004-05 and/or ongoing interest expressed by Tempe, RPI, San Diego, Morgantown, and Kansas chapters of Association for India's Development.

We thank AID volunteers who have taken the time to visit the work and at times participate for a few days or weeks in the villages, helping to build confidence, lend some technical expertise, or document the work.

We especially thank Saroja Krishnamurthy and the folks at AID India Chennai office for timely administrative support.  AID India work in Srikakulam has enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with the nearby AID Rural Technology Resource Center (ARTRC )in Orissa, and we hope to continue and build on each other's strengths.  Dhanada and Babita Mishra provided hospitality on many occasions to our volunteers and resource persons, including during times of illness.

Many village volunteers have given freely of their time, space in their homes, and timely support and advice during various phases.  Without this invaluable goodwill, no program would succeed.  On innumerable occasions, M. Varalakshmi in Tolapi hosted and looked after various resource persons as well as village volunteers.  Day and night, she lent a patient ear, offered timely advice and practical assistance on many programs keeping in view village realities.

Appeal

We are out of funds for Srikakulam project and are seeking support for continuing this work in 2009 and 2010.   Interested chapters, please contact Ravi:   raviaravinda AT gmail DOT com.
