Society For The Education Of The Crippled reaches out to more than 700 physically challenged students and adults every year in Kanhe Phate, Pune District.

Tehmina Barma Center for Independent Living is the rural unit of the Society for the Education of the Crippled, which is a residential school as well as a vocational training center for the severely handicapped, to enable them to take up a vocation, which can help them become self-sufficient and earn their own livelihood.

The vision is to promote a world where the differently abled are taught to use their abilities to their full potential and live as productive members of society. The support includes physical rehabilitation, lodging & boarding, school fees, school stationary, uniforms, shoes, physiotherapy, transport, extracurricular activities and medical camps.

Before SEC : Nakusha is one of eleven sisters. Her left leg is affected with polio.

Now: Completed 9th grade. Completed a course as a beautician and is employed in a beauty parlor.
