 More than 90% of the waste generated by 220 families in Tungabatra block in Bangalore was successfully recycled.

Objectives

  • Workers will collect the waste from residents of certain areas of Bangalore in 12 hours interval
  •  The garbage collected will be segregated and further organic waste will be composted and in-organic waste will be sold to get revenue to make it sustainable on a long term
  • Efficient resource / material retrieval process through primary, secondary and tertiary segregation thus improving the material recovery process as input to plastic and paper companies
  • Achieving self sustainability by sale of tertiary segregated recyclables, organic products like compost, egg shell powder and panchagavyam
  • Supporting below poverty line families though womens’ self help group
  • Waste collection every 12 hours ensures the women dealing with waste do not work with completely rotten waste
