  • Prices of rice, wheat & potatoes are beyond a poor person's reach
  • All crops are under water but tenants have to pay the rent for the land without harvest
  • People have run out of fuel except for cowdung cakes save in plastic.
  • BDO brushed off the situation by saying it was a "regular problem"

  • Read Mandra's letter to the BDO urging to take immediate action
  • AID supported Rs. 10 lakhs for food and temporary shelter.
  • Our partners have divided into 2 team, one advocating with the Govt. and engaging the media the other doing relief work
  • Media has traveled in the boat with the AID partners to the inaccessible areas
Apprehensions
  • Acute shortage of food & water
  • Cholera, diarrhea and other epidemics
  • No transportation or access to health facilities
