Oct 6: Budget from AID-Hyderabad

Oct 6: Here is a request from Srihari of AID Hyderabad partnering with Murali of Akshara:

There was water flow that was 35ft high in this area of Mahboobnagar pretty much sweeping everything along with it.  Relief itself may continue for over a year given the nature of damage.  For now, food items, blankets and some clothes are urgently needed.

Here's a provisional budget for immediate relief from talking to Murali yesterday.

Abut Rs 54 per family (6 persons) per day: Rice, dal, oil, sugar
Supporting provisions for 500 families for 3 weeks => 500*21*54 = Rs. 5,67,000/-
In addition, Sanitation is a big problem due to dead animal carcases etc.  Soaps etc Rs 10,000/-Blankets are also needed for all the families and we are trying t mobilize these as well.

Total: Rs. 5,77,000/- (excluding blankets)

It is possible that we might get lower prices when we buy in bulk.  We are trying trying to raise part of the money in Qualcomm and we will know only by end of next week how much that will be.  AID can consider the balance for support.

Srihari works with Qualcomm and was an AID-San Diego volunteer who has moved to India and volunteers with AID-Hyderabad.
