AID New York City Chapter We are a group of professionals and students from different walks of life residing in the tri-state area. Our major activities include spreading awareness about AID India in the US, identifying development projects in India and raising funds for the same, generating ideas and volunteering activities for and building an intellectual and activist space for all those committed to the AID mission and vision.
Mission AID NYC takes its mission from Association for India's Development (AID) which is a volunteer movement promoting sustainable, equitable and just development. AID supports grassroots organizations in India and initiates efforts in various interconnected spheres such as agriculture, energy, education, health, livelihoods, natural resources including land and water, women's empowerment and social justice.
VisionOur focus on sustainable, equitable and just development emerges from our vision that “problems” are interconnected, and “solutions” need to be holistic in addressing the multiple underlying causes. Our method derives from putting people first, partnering with local communities, organizations and activists, learning from doing, combating injustice, and building sustainable solidarities.
Compassion wherever there is suffering Conviction that the compassion is strong enough to eliminate suffering Courage to make this conviction a reality This is AID...
Our RootsFrom its humble beginnings in a student's apartment, AID has now grown into a big organization with chapters all over the US, UK and India. We now support organizations in almost all states of India that work on issues focusing on improving health, introducing primary education programs, women's upliftment and development, savings and income programs, and rural development. |
