High Court strikes down the State Govt order to reduce MNREGA wage to Rs 138   

Jan Jagaran Shakti Sangathan had filed a PIL opposing the reduction of MNREGA wage 

The Patna High Court today offered cheers to millions of workers in the state by restoring the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) wages to Rs 144 per day. The state government had reduced the wage from Rs 144 to Rs 138 per day starting April 1st 2013 affecting 20 lakh households who work in MNREGA annually.

Reaching 5000 Adivasi Workers
 A Jatha in Visakha District Andhra Pradesh with songs, street plays and puppet shows  creating awareness on the National Rural Employment Guarantee and Right to Information Acts will cover 100 villages in two Mandals in 10 days (14 - 22 Feb 2012) and try to reach 5000 adivasis en route. It will conduct village meetings and register complaints.   A padyatra in Srikakulam District will take place between Jan 26-30, 2012.
