Bonded labour rehabilitation project

Bonded labour is still prevalent in some parts of India, despite being outlawed under the 1976 Bonded Labour Rehabilitation act. For no pay, and very little food and few change of clothes, people are forced to work as bonded labour in the Malknagiri district of Orissa. AID is working with MODE to rehabilitate the bonded labourers in this region. The funding provides support for the process and for awareness raising and training activities.

Udyogini's focus has been to empower women to understand and participate in critical enterprise processes. As the market gains prominence, the need for women to become knowledgeable, confident and lead enterprises just as they have led microcredit initiatives becomes critical.


Flood Relief In Orissa

Mahanadi Delta of Orissa has been affected by seasonal floods and this project is to provide immediate relief. In July 2011, people of Orissa witnessed unprecedented flooding of Daya and Luna rivers in around 19 districts that endangered lives of lakhs of people. AID responded immediately to provide relief materials in five districts (Kendrapada, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur).




Rural Technology Center -- Orissa
 The AID Rural Technology Resource Centre was set up four years ago to promote rural technology, sustainable livelihoods and skill training for villagers with the ultimate objective of development in the tribal region of Gajapati district, Odisha. By 2009, it has grown to include a fully operating elementary school, a small organic farm, and a profitable tailoring school and workshop.
